John,
Dave's taper is a good one. I would guess that who
made the rod did not heat treat the bamboo as it
should be heat treated. I have his taper and had
planned on making one if I can find time.
I can make a new butt for your rod but would rather
not change another's taper, can make you a blank later
on in the year. I will be fishing the 1 wt with some
of the guys here for Sowbug if Crooked Creek comes to
life by then. Another tyer that has one of my 1 wt
rods will also be fishing his.
