Well, we don't have any streams to adopt, but our club
has adopted a local state fishing lake. It was
recently drained to repair the dam and we''ll be out
in the morning helping the fisheries biolgist with
habitat restoration. Mark, you need to check out our
web site, freestateflyfishers.org

Two things guys.....first, i dunno how many of you are
aware of, or even interested in, the FFF's new
Adopt-A-Stream program???????? BUT, it's a very cool
program where a club takes on a river as their's, so
to speak. They sponser it, or sorta step up to the
plate to protect it. A sign is erected at a location
compatable (usually public water) with eveyone
involved and from that point on the club is
responsible to do river clean-ups, water montoring,
tree plantings, rock rolling on the tribs so the fish
can get up to span, etc., etc., etc. The underlying
purpose of the sign is to let folks know (fisherman
and others) that they are being expected to conduct
themselves with respect for the river and the fish
therein. You can go to the FFF web-site
www.fedflyfishers.org and check it out yourself. Then
get off you duffs and get your club to do the righ
thing. TGF (Theodore Gordon Flyfishers) has taken on
the Beaverkill as their special project, and my wife's
club World fly Fishing of Japanm is going to do the
same for the Willowemoc. We're getting our sign done
now. The FFF pays for the first $100 of the cost of
the sign and i think the totall sign cost is $250,
something like that. It's a very worthwhile program,
because it just let's the public at large know that
there's an organization taking responsibility for a
river and that everyone is expected to act
accordingly. Very positive. Second, the FFF is also
sposering a new fly tying contest with 39 different
catagories. You can find out all the details at the
FFF web-site. It's a really cool deal. I'm entering,
just for the fun of it of course. It's basicaly a fund
raiser and a membership drive. Pretty cool huh? mark
