In Australia, a garfish is up to a foot or so long(maybe a foot and a half),
no teeth per se. I think you guys call it a ballyhoo.

Yep...grew up with them things in S. Louisiana.  THat's a big one, for sure.
If you're hungry enough and have an axe handy, you can clean one and eat it,
too.

THere's (or was) a real monster of a garfish in the Aquarium at the
Riverwalk in New Orleans.  300lbs. is about the top range for these, and the
length for this weight can be anywhere from 6' to 8'.

Biggest one I ever caught was in the canals by my neighborhood.  We
estimated it around 200lbs.
