Byard

Apologies Byard.  Guilty as charged.  Maybe we can get this back on track.  Here's my latest thoughts on tying.

A few years ago, I was intoduced to the Daiichi 1251 hook http://www.linesend.com/product/daiichi_100_1.shtml#curved.  It is a barbless Dennis Brown glass bead hook but has become my favorite for tying nymphs.  It has a little bit of swimming nymph shape and the hook goes a bit off to the side which gives it a most peculiar motion in the water when lifted or retrieved.

Next, we have this stuff called Awesome Hair and there are many knock-offs these days but the opal, mint and UV pearl are finer than any other I've found to date.  I have only speculation as to why this stuff is so attractive to trout but it increases my catch rate by 4-5 times.

Add in some not so unusual tying materials like peacock herl (stuff must have mayfly pheremones in it), ultrawire (not too thick or fine but just right in all the right colors) and partridge (this is the nicest shape for little wets IMHO) or certain other feathers like hen if you prefer, a wee bit of CDC, a pinch of Ice Dub, a gold bead (why black doesn't work as well is beyond me), and tie this new pattern I came up with.  Oh, there are some variations but I'll post them all after Sowbug as I need volunteers to fish these bugs.

There you go.  The materials without the pattern.  Pattern released at Sowbug.  I predict this to rival the Triple K...maybe even surpass it.
