Subject: RE: [VFB] fishing report - Chilli Pepper - Tony
... the Black Pepper was so good that they haven't felt the urge to change.I also spoke to Murf on the phone just before I was going out to send him the IOFF Swap flies. I mentioned this and he seemed interested, so I rushed to rip the package open again and packed down one to him too as another extra. I wonder if he has tried it.........Nick, I have that fly but have not fished it yet. I'll test it on the White. -MurfI have done some experimenting with it too (sorry Tony) and a good tail is also a quite fluffy bit of fox tail. it will still be very alive in the water... at the same time as it doesn't tangle up in the hook bend as much marabou. Another trick I've used is... to tie a teardrop formed monofilament loop that behind the hook (a little bit angled down) that will lie UNDER the tail and stop it from from falling down./NickIan:Here's the version that's up on the VFB.A bit different from the version Tony showed me many moons ago. If you lose the epoxy head and the 3-D eyes, you have the pattern Tony showed me. Red fabric paint for the eye and black fabric paint for the pupil. I sure Tony will correct any errors I've made. Haven't used it much for trout but it and the White River Demon are the only buggers I carry in my box.Jerry C
