One of the VFB listers in Denmark asked if I could host a classic Spey Fly
swap. Mike Martinek knew him so you may?? Tommy Olinssen. He has had
trouble posting to the list but he joined my tube fly swap so some very
lucky swappers got to see some really nice tube flies from him. He sent me
a couple of his spey flies and he can really tie!! He also makes his own
hooks so he is completely afflicted with the bug!!!
Spey flies are new to me also. I've played around with them but not with
the classic bronze mallard wings. I've used the Whiting laced hen capes
instead so this will be a good lesson for me.
The swap is for Classic patterns but I didn't put any limits on the hook
size or "eyed" vs "gut" because it would be and extra burden on swappers
that don't have easy access to those materials or extra select bronze
mallard. I kept it small also just 12 swappers.
Sorry you missed it. I've started getting some flies in and it promises to
be a good swap!
Warm Regards,
Deb

Deb, damn if i had known about your spey swap, i sure would of got in. Lemme
know if you do another one. How did you set it up? Is it traditional, free
style, or what? Is there a hook size limit or specification? Gimme the
details, i'm so curious now. mark
