Don.. Sorta My OWN fault I guess... It is an 8' rod, and My leader was about 8' 3" long... Well, I do like I normally do, and just pull on the leader, and that pulls the fly line (and knot where it attaches the line to the leader) right through the last eyelet.. I guess in My haste to get fishing, I pulled a little too hard, and it snapped off about the last foot or so of the Rod... The company IS gonna replace it...It is a graphite rod and has always been able to bend it at a 180 degree turn with NO problems, till yesterday.... Just My luck... Chuck

How did you break your rod,  Chuck?  Did your rod company replace it for you?

I've been pretty fortunate.  I've only broken one rod in my life, and Winston replaced it, free of charge, even though it was not the fault of the rod.  The reel (a Teton) clutch fried while fighting a sailfish, and the rod came down on the side of the boat and snapped like a twig.

Any interesting rod-breakage stories out there?  Big fish?  Car doors?  Dock boards?  Split-shot nicks?
(The list is getting slow)

The week before my first Baja trip years ago, there were 8 hi-dollar rods broken on fish- all by hi-sticking.

Subject: [VFB] I must repent LOL

Folks: I went fishing this afternoon for only about an hour, and I caught three nice two pound bass. one, one pound bass, two "bigger  than hand sized shell crackers" and one "bigger than hand sized" bluegill... Now, I must confess My sin LOL.... No sooner had I gotten out of the truck, I pulled on the line to let some out, and My new fly rod snapped right in half... Made me mad as a wet hen.... Soooooo. I broke out My ol Zebco 33 and put a broken back minnow lure with a spinner blade on it, and THAT is what I caught the fish on LOL, Chuck
