Henk,

Your post is an aching reminder of my last trip to the area.  Lina, my beloved wife, told me there were no trout in AZ so I left my rod behind knowing she wanted us to spend time together.  While on a horseback riding adventure through the area just south and east an hour of where you are staying (we were at the Scottsdale Princess), we rode across the Gila River and I asked the guide whether there were trout there.  He said that there were 24" browns in the undercut just to my left upstream and there is a Gila River Trout to boot.  I'd think an 8'  5 wt. or similar would do just fine.  Can't tell you what flys to bring but am sure you can dig that up.

You will need an AZ license, fish stamp and reservation permit, if memory serves.

I'll be in Phoenix, AZ, April 26 through May 1. I'll most likely be free SUnday, April 29. Can anyone tell me whether it would be worthwile to bring one or more flyrods?

Cheers
