I import flies from Asia into the USA. The primary problem is that the Asian countries with bird flu outbreaks have banned the importation of bird products.  We have managed to persuade one of the countries concerned to allow genetic US hackle in, but no migratory bird product is allowed.  Once the inventory is finished, the factories will have to cease tying flies containing feathers, or parts of feathers.

The USA currently allows the importation of flies containing feathers accompanied by a declaration that they are free of bird flu.
