Still waiting to hear from Mr. Fish and Mr. Romero about how their rope-dubbing is coming along after personal lessons. Mark, please forget that you heard how I create the 'eye shine' in my bugs and minnows (you can do it for yours, just don't show or reveal it).
Denny C. gave me some good advice about teaching the rope-dub method (Thanks, Denny- I enjoyed our conversations.). He stood behind me while I roped a fly and noticed how I hooked the bobbin in my left hand in order to put tension on the thread. He said just that point made a lot of difference to him. Nick, I wish I knew you liked McFlyfoam. I would have shown you lots of tips- I guarontee-u. Tony, thanks so much for the rod-building tour. I knew there was a lot to building bamboo rods, but now I've seen it first-hand from a master- it was a real treat. Have you tried the rope-dub yet? Tony, I also received a 'late' contribution for your friend Thomas Berry. Dyna-King sent me a certificate for 30% off any vise he wants. Was he there? I can forward it to you. Tony, please send me Dean's home address. I'll send him the mouse I tied in the class-room as a 'thank-you'. Murf- now you're learnin'. Blame that 'ol alter-ego. Reuven- I know you weren't there, and won't be again next year unless you bring me an EP pelt. ;o) BUT, when I got home I opened a package from Sea World, and Shamu sent me some real penguin feathers!!! Not many, but enough to generate my new patterns. I revealed the new fly line to Rodney at Sow Bug, and I'll be posting some new never-before-seen patterns soon. Stay tuned. It'll send chills up and down your spine. (It's Demento's idea.) DonO
