This is for all of you and your suggestions are great and then what is nice
is many of you have experiences in areas I haven't gotten to yet or may
never will . Enclose I grab some of my leaders I use here on the Kootenai,
really no formula but they work ,I have also use two flies of a 2/0 size
at the same time or put a teaser on front ,that's gets their attention and
the chaser behind. Rod lines I use best is a 9 wt,I also use on the Beaverkill
in New York State a 7 wt is my second choice and a 6wt.if I'm not carrying
those other rods. This leader can be use on Bass or Pike and Salmon.

Deb

I've seen hard hats in all kinds of colors. Perhaps pink with yellow poka-
dots?

You may also wish to look into a bump hat. They sit a little bit lower on
your head and don't fall off as easily. Bump hats provide less protection
but are lighter and great for working in areas of low head clearance.

I once customized a hard hat for myself. I sort-of became known by it. See
that guy with the funny lookin' hard hat .......

When hiking with my dog over dry terrain I would pour canteen water into my
hard hat and let her drink out of it. She approved.

Hard hats have so many uses.

BTW Once I was hit real hard in the head while wearing a hard hat. I fell to
my knees and actually saw stars!!! Seriously, it may have saved my life.

ROTFL!!!! I love that! I wouldn't begin to give casting
instruction but I really like the suggestion of the hard hat!!! The
last saltwater class I taught at we went down to a local river and
the guy fishing next to me proceeded to plant his fly firmly in the
back of his ear. I was trying to find a polite way to move down
stream without looking rude. ;0) I do use a 9wt when I fish the
surf. After catching a few nice blue fish I traded in the 8wt. I
thought I was going to snap that thing in half. Not comparable to
your trout fishing but I do cast some pretty heavy flies so I just went
up one weight and things improved but they still need work.
I just got a really nice pink hat from Whiting so I could look like
a girl. I'll have to wait till next year to ask for a hard hat with
the Whiting logo! Hee hee Maybe I can just use a sticker. Thanks
for the laugh! Deb
