If you're making foam dies out of bullet
casings, try using large caliber rifle cartridges. Along with some with
the primer case drilled out (to push out the plugs), try some others with the
back large end sawed off. Then, with a needle nosed pliers, bend out a
custom shape- say for an enlongated tail, a figure 8 cut-out, or an
ellipse for popperheads. Then file sharp and you have a custom-shaped
dye.
OK, back to work, Dr. D wants to take a nap

Been there, done that. Except I used copper tubing that you can get at any
hardware store.
It is a pain to bend it to the shape you want it, even with a torch.
