Headed back up to Tucker about the same time like we
did on Friday afternoon, this time with my buddy Bob.
Found that two boats with "corn" chuckers in them had
taken over the whole shoal with the third boat sitting
on the "hole".
We found a spot away from them and started casting. I
started out with the Yellow soft hackle that I had on
my tippet. On the third cast I hooked up. Had it on a
while then lost it. That seemed to be the order of the
day.
Did nothing for the next two hours. Bob had one hit.
We were about to head home when the two boats pulled
out of the shoal and we had it to ourselves. Headed up
to the faster water and tied on a Chili Pepper. On the
second cast I hooked up and lost it. Well that
happened on the next three fish. Went over to the rock
where I broke off Bucks Chili Pepper wondering if I
could hook up with the fish that broke me off. I
hooked three fish and lost them all on the Pepper. I
decided I had a bad hook and changed over to Al's fly.
Finally landed a 12" bow in that fly. Had a few more
hits and the fly was a total loss. I had taken a lot
of fish on this same fly in the past,it was not in the
best of shape. Tied on the Yellow soft hackle again
and hooked up on a larger fish and lost it. I hooked
up with several more fish and lost them all. Finally
checked the fly and the hook was straightened out. So
much for that fly. Tied on a red soft hackle and made
a few casts. Had a hit or two but no hookups. About
this time we decided it was time to head back. One
more cast and we would go. Bob hooked up and lost the
trout before he could get it to the net. That was it.
In three hours, I only landed 1 fish but it was a
beautiful day on the river with a good friend.
Tony
