Hi Don, I got the package of Flexo stuff in the mail last night. Thanks.
My first observation was how stiff this stuff was compared to mylar tubing. Since there is so much plastic, it is almost a lure making project than fly tying. I do make my own trolling spoons (prism tape and powder paints) so not a bad thing. Obviously it appears that I need to fill the large tube with a filler. But to me a Gurgler is a better popper design to cast with a fly rod. However, I do fish for Stripers occasionally at the seacoast, so some type of sand eel is doable. What I think will work best is get out the jar of softex (that I rarely use), along with some saltwater jig hooks, some synthetic long hairs and 30 minute epoxy (with some powder paints) and create some cool (hopefully) Rapala style lures (with no fillers inside the flexo) to be able to cast with a fly rod. I also think if the flexo is rigid in some areas and open on others, then this could allow for water moving through the tubing, possible adding for additional vibration while stripping. Who knows. Just my basic observations and initial thoughts. Won't be able to get to it for at least 2 weeks. Thanks again... Thanks, Chris
