Yes, it certainly does, doesn't it!
I was so close there. Most of the pictures I saw were described "Montezuma or Mearn's Quail", so I naturally searched for Montezuma Quail... "since that was written first, that will be most common". I got what I got and nothing looked right to me. Now, when searching for 'Mearn's Quail' I can see why. (Quote): "The Mearn's quail
(Crytonyz montezumae mearnsi) is one of three SUBspecies of the Montezuma quail (Crytonyz montezumae)." Not the same bird... only one of the three prototypes He made before getting satisfied with the fourth (when He had realized that what was missing was white lines on the wing quills).
Sooo close...
I also saw something that makes me suspect that this auction will be won... no matter the cost. The bird is also known as "Fool Quail and Crazy Quail". When (if) I will stop bidding, Jester will take over immediately.
Thanks Deb and all you others who, I'm sure, have been working really really hard to help me.

Hi all...
... especially all who consider themselves "Birdiologists".
I need help to identify a birdspecies.
Skin picture on:
http://images.tradera.com/655/32083655_1.jpg
The breast feathers look a bit like Montezuma Quail. The wing
quillpatternhas some similarities too.But on every picture of the bird
thatI've found,I seea lot of white in the center and around the wing
quills... which I don't see on the skin.On pictures of the Texas Quail I've
seen, thewing quills look more similar... but instead they don't have these
white spotted breast feathers. Is it a mutation?
I HATE having material labeled "???" in my boxes... so ifany of you know
what bird this is I'd be very grateful for info.
Thanks In Advance,
/Nick
