Title: Meddelande
Not a lot activity at work today. So I sat reading all these saltwater, crayfish etc posts... which I normally just skip, since I've never felt an interest in it. But now I did it and saw the one with the link to the videos... so I watched them too. "Neat... what's the time? I want to go home to the vise!!!"

When I got home I dug up the Congo hair I bought 2 years ago and have never touched. Now I've tied my first saltwater fly. What did I learn? On the next one I won't be too amitious when cutting the clumps of hair I'm going to tie in, especially not on the hook size that I was using (it wasn't exactly Marlin size). I saw it already after half of it was tied... "Naahh, this isn't how it's supposed to be." But I continued just for the heck of it... so this will be a Christmas tree decoration. It's FAT!!!! I'll, of course, cut the dangerous bit off... to Make Teresa happy. Personally I don't think it's needed. It's practically fish-proof.

Here we go again. With half the amount of hair, a fish might be able to feel the steel part.  ;o)

Hi Rene,

I tie most of my saltwater flies on 1/0,2/0 and 3/0. You may also want to carry some Surflon nylon coated stranded steel leader material just in case the blues are in the area too. I also tie most flies on the mustad hooks 34007 and 34011.

Good Luck
Ray

Only one fly needed Rene...;^)

Chartreuse and White Clouser. Tie up a big batch.

Oh maybe a few extra patterns to liven up your fly box.

A couple of small deceivers if the peanut bunker are out and about.
Add a touch of lavender to them.

Maybe a flat -wing pattern or two.

And a couple crease flies or gurglers for after dark.

Possibly a few surf candies, because they're neat.

But seriously...all you will use are the clousers.

When is your striper hunt?
