Nick,

I love the look of LAW vises, but a quick calculation tells me that one LAW vise = 8.75 Danvises...I don't think I'd be able to go through that many Danvises in what's left of my alotted time on this earth...

My Danvise broke recently (internal threaded Delrin rod snapped) but Al Beatty was able to fix it for me for $10, so I'm back in business.   Thjat being said,  I  still tie at sometiome or other  on all the vises I own.  Last night it was on a Sunrise (because my Thompson A is kept in my office at work), for  a fly that just wasn't going to work on the Danvise.

Thanx for that one Mark. Your mail will be a keeper. A table with the bead sizes makes it a lot easier to order stuff from the people over there.

BTW:
1 US Dollar = 0,80 Euro (roughly)
1 Euro = 1,20 US Dollar (roughly)

... and for those who may be interested:

1 US Dollar = 7,50 Swedish Kronor (roughly)
1 Swedish Krona = 0,13 US Dollar (roughly)

That's why I think a LAW vise at $700 looks so tempting to buy... "Why not two?"... but after a conversion I'm still sitting with my Mongoose.

Chuck,

25.4000 mm = 2.54000 cm = 1.0000 inch EXACTLY
1.094 yd = 1.000 meter
1.609 km = 1.000 mile

1.00 qt = 946 mL
3785 mL = 3.785 L = 1.000 US gallon

More practically for bead sizes:

1/16 inch = 1.6 mm approximately
3/32 inch = 2.4 mm approximately
1/8 inch = 3.2 mm approximately
5/32 inch = 3.87 mm approximately
1/4 inch = 6.35 mm
this will at least give you a "feel" for the sizes.

That should get you through most of it... just don't ask me to convert between Euros and dollars...

I gotta restudy up on My metric  I know it takes about 101 or so mm to the inch... The small sized beads I have, when I lay them next to some (known sized) 2mm craft foam, seem to be the same thickness so I guess then, that is what they are, I'm confused, LOL, Chuck

We get imperial and metric stuff here..

3mm
4mm
4.5mm (there are sometimes some in between...s)

3/32 (2.5mm)
1/8 (3mm approx)

generally I use 3 and 4mm beads  (1/8, 5/32s)

Bead head nymphs I tie #14s with 3mm beads,
#12s with 3 or 4mm beads
#10s with 4mm beads..

Hope this is not too confusing,.
