Thanks Ronan. You make number 51. Be sure to give me the name of your fly and your city and state so I can print on tag to go under your fly. Also, send $2 as your part of the cost for the purchase of the shadow box, shipping and mailing.

Hi, Jimmy, I will send a fly.I sent a tribute post to the list about Murf when I first heard the news, but it bounced.I had a chance to have a nice visit with him, he was one of several people I especially wanted to meet at the Sowbug this year, and I found him to be a kind and gentle soul. It is a very sad thing to have him pass away just at the age where one begins to figure out what really matters in life, and appreciates living more than ever.I've always told my kids I wanted to go before my brain, but 50 is far to young. My father and my Grandmother both outlived their brains by about four years, and if there is any blessing in an early departure it is that children don't have to spend years trying to reconstruct what their father or mother were REALLY like. But it is hard to see someone go when there are so many things beginning to happen which they have been looking forward to for a lifetime: retirement, grandchildren, the mellowing wisdom of experience.I personally know four people who have had near death experiences, and only one of these actually wanted to go back into their bodies. That one only came back because he wanted to share the wonderful feeling he had on the other side with his wife. (He died four years later, but his wife wasn't as enthusiastic and waited another twenty years to join him).Anyway, I take a great deal of consolation in knowing that he really is in a better place.Tom Davenport

As of this writing, I have 45 VFB'ers signed up to tie a fly for the David Murphy Memorial Fly Collection. It has been 5 days since I announced that I'd meister it, and in order to give ample time for your fly to get to me, VIA the USPS, I'm cutting the "sign up" off at 9:00 p.m. CDT, this Saturday, April 22nd. That gives you two more days to see my post and make up your mine. IF YOU WANT TO SIGN UP, PLEASE CONTACT ME OFF LIST.
I would like to have at least 50 flies to place in the shadow box. That will look great. However, if I get more than that it will be fine.
If you want to tie a fly for Murf and haven't signed up, don't dilly dally around. We're talking about ONE FLY to tie, and then dropping in into the mail.
