I forgot to mention that the photos of these flies, (click on link below), were taken with my little Canon Powershot S410, using the white non-glare poly drip board background, macro setting. As Tony suggested, I put the background right against the vise and almost touching the fly. As you can see, there's no shadows. I did not use a back light, just the normal flash from my little digital. This was super easy, and I'll be experimenting on ways to improve the process.
