I just add a fly. Takes away much of the
hassle with floatants. If the fish is going back, why bother taking it up and
end up with standing with slimy hands for nothing.
The way I do it is simple. Just take
the pliers and pinch the last millimeter of the tippet end flat. This gives
you a bigger area for the drop of superglue that you add next... and finally,
just take the fly and stick the tippet to its belly. (This will
also help to shoot the leader... since now the tippet get its own belly and
won't have to rely on the energy from the fly line.)
