Glenn,
Thanks for the advice, I have used some of these
things  for wings on the Mayfly. I use Denny's JV hen
feathers for the wings on the flies I give as gifts or
ones I know will be framed. Upright cut feather wings
don't hold up well for fishing flies. In the past I
had used some packing foam for the wings, it seemed
too bulky and as I said, the fine thread I use would
cut it. I sent you some photos of the Mayfly with the
new foam wing, you can see what I am doing with this
fly.
I know we are from the old school, I think some of the
new stuff we have to use works better at times.
