I was staying in Avon at Beaver Creek Resort the first time I went fly fishing in 2000. There is a good fly shop west of town where you could get a map and some local info. Most convenient is the Eagle River that runs right along the road north of town and onto the west. Don't forget to hit Beaver Liquors in Avon while you're there.
