Ray I wear the same horse shoe collar one Rodney has when I'm on a boat. Im not positive but I think you might be right. I remember one of my friends that owns a boat saying something about that but as long as you have the coast guard approved PFDs on board for everyone you should be OK with the exception of small children who have to be wearing them. There are places we fish for Stripers here that have very dangerous tides. They fill in behind you first before you notice the tide coming in from the front. So if you get caught up in a really good fishing streak I could see someone getting caught by that tide very quickly. The next time I go back I will probably wear the collar there also it doesn't get in the way at all. The waist band one wouldn't work well here because a lot of the fishermen that slip in fall off the rocks. If you hit your head I can't see that working well. Just my thoughts.
