VFB,

The last time I played guide is chronicled below.

http://www.flyfishohio.com/Little_Big_Econ.htm

This trip was strictly bushwhacking. 3 miles in, up and down some pretty
banks and very thick palmetto brush.
That is me about 3 pictures down. And Joe Cornwall's pix, the author, is
at the bottom of the photo strip.

This stream flows into the St. Johns River. Where they meet is
one of my absolute favorite spots. It is good all year round and I have
caught
more Shad in Feb and March and than any other spot I have tried

Fabulous spot to canoe and Yak. From the launch to the Econ is about a
mile. Most
of the year, you can paddle a few miles upstream on the Econ before the blow
down prevents further passage. In very high waters you can float
the entire length, 16 miles, but you have to be a fairly good paddler. There
are lots of
trees and blowdown and you have to be pretty quick to get around them. I
prefer
my Current Designs 12' Kestrel sit inside on this trip.

It is a great 3-5 wt. stream. Loaded with bass and bream. There are some
very large STRIPERS in the river as well. I have never caught one of those
guys on the
ECON. Any freshwater fly guy or gal would love this piece of water.
