It is a test to see if new graduate students know enough inorganic chemistry to enroll in a 600 graduate level inorganic chemistry course. We also offer courses that are combined 400 (undergraduate senior) and 500 level graduate (to make up deficiencies in knowledge of inorganic chemistry). So it is basically a placement test. This one is important to the grad students since if they don't pass it (since it contains a lot of freshman chemistry) they don't get a teaching assistantship). Finished the test about an hour ago...25 questions to be done in 2 hours. I think the test is dead easy, but always think the tests are easy.
