Hi Henk,

Bar Nunn is a suburb of Casper, just to the north.

I think you may be right about the show, but I don't have any facts.  The show did not seem well attended and there was an air of desperation (at least on Saturday).  At booths where they knew me, we cut up just like in the past, as they knew what I was all about, and they wanted to see the new psycho residents of the Baits Hotel.  Others, though, when they found out I was not a million-dollar purchaser, lost interest in a flash, even though there was no one else looking at their stuff.  I did make a few new friends and continued some old friendships.  Rainy Riding is always fun to visit with (and her entourage), if she's not tied up.

I think also the politics is interfering with the fun, which in turn affects the trade.  (This is also my take with the FFF at present- politics and $$.)  Why they hold the show in Denver every year is a mystery to me, even if it does work out well to be within driving distance of me.  They had it in SLC a few years ago, and I guess that didn't work out.

The pike hook is a large, swept hook, reminiscent of a bass stinger hook in general shape, but with a smooth curve, and barbless.   It would be a beautiful hook to tie presentation flies on.

I'm thinking about the show in November.  I'll let you know.  Have you gotten any kind of list yet who the celeb attendees are?

Interesting...

and says 'hi', too.  He may drop in for a visit soon.  For those
of you who don't know 'Marv', he's a World Champion Salmonfly tier, and a
flyfishing history af-fish-anado.  He also resides in Casper

Eh, I thought he lived in Bar Nunn?

Actually, the celebs were pretty scarce this year.  Didn't see Lefty, Dave
Whitlock, Chris Helms, or a few others that are normally there.  Did see AK,
checking out the new Regal rotaries.

There was some hoopla in UK based trade rag "tackle trade world" that promotion for this year's FTDS was nonexistent, and that this might well be the last (Denver) FTDS in history... Some thoughts on how it would be good for the trade if fly tackle were to integrate in the general fishing tackle shows.

At the end of the show, I was able to buy ten bulk skeins of saltwater flash
materials and horse-trade (actually, mouse-trade and shrimp-trade) for a bag
full of Mustad/Partridge saltwater hooks from their booth.  Partridge has a
new pike hook that really unique.  If anyone wants a photo, let me know.

Ah, the new Ad Swier hook, I bet.

If anyone is interested, Hardy had a $9500 titanium saltwater reel out for
sale.

Ah, instant divorce path...

Are you planning on coming to Somerset in November?

Cheers

Henk
