I agree wholeheartedly! Now, don't get me completely wrong. I enjoy a little "banter" from time to time, but the "good-ole-boy" diatribe has definitely gotten out of hand. I'm guilty of this good-ole-boy stuff too, for I've been a party to this on more than one occassion, if for no other reason than to liven things up a bit.
So, it appears that we need an avenue to handle our good-ole-boy remarks. Why not a GOOD-OLE-BOY CLUB, where those of us so inclined can join and banter back and forth to our heart's content. It worked for Jokes. It can also work for us good-ole-boys. The first thing to do would be to find out who wants to join the GOBC (good-ole-boy-club). Then when a goodly number of us sign up, the GOBC Meister could make an email list, like I did for the JFTD. Each of us would know who's on the list because our email addresses would appear in the "TO" section of the Meister's post. How would this work? Well, to start it off, the GOBC Meister might take a "pot shot" at one of the GOBC members, then all on the GOBC list would have the opportunity to fire a "counter shot" by
hitting their "reply all" button. Sound like fun? I think it would be, and it would certainly clear the list of what Byard was talking about, and get us back to fly fishing, tying, rods, reels and all things to do with fly fishing.
However, with all the above said, I still feel that a "little" banter among VFB members is good and should continue.
If the GOBC interests you and you think you'd like to be a member, let me know OFF LIST, and I'll begin building the Master GOBC email list. AND, PLEASE, LET'S KEEP FURTHER DISCUSSION OF THIS OFF LIST. When it's all handled, I will announce it to the VFB, and we'll go from there. Others that want to join can do so then.
I already do the daily Fishing Quote and the JFTD, so I would hope that one of you other Good Ole Boys, preferably the infamous DR. Dimento would volunteer to meister the GOBC, that is if we get enough interest to form the GOOD OLE BOY CLUB.
My sole reason for offering the above solution is simple. I love the VFB and without it, there would be a BIG HOLE in my heart. You have done so very much for me and especially for Jody during her bout with breast cancer. I LUV YOU GUYS & GALS, and count all of you as "family".
