Jimi: You are right.. I was into gold prospecting for yrs, and always wanted
to go to the Alaska trips they had, cause not only prospecting, they had fly
fishing up there too. This area was right off the Bering sea, and not far
from Russia at all.. Only thing I could not believe, is that the ppl I knew
who went there said the mosquitoes will carry you away...I guess living in
the South all my life, I always thought of Mosquitoes as a warm climate
insect.. I guess they are pretty prolific.. If they are that thick up there
I'd think you could catch the salmon and/or trout and other species on
mosquito patterns??? My Sis and Bro in Law went on a Ship Alaska cruise two
years ago too, and they too, got to fish, cause Mike, My brother in law is a
Country Boy and LOVES to fish, so Charlene, my Sis said ppl looked at him
funny when he asked the ships crew if, on the stops they made, could he go
fishing instead of sight seeing LOL.. And they DID accommodate him at a cpl
stops.. he said he caught a cpl salmon, and said that compared to the
bluegills here they were awesome to catch.... I think he used tradition bait
chunking lures, but he still had fun and they sent back some of the most
beautiful pics I've ever seen. That was one thing about prospecting with my
little dredge, i was always on the water, and though I was a bait chunker
back then, if I was finding no gold, I could always fish LOL...so, it was a
win/win, too, cause all my family LOVES to camp out as well... Chuck

Some may know, or remember that I am, (or was), an avid pilot who liked to
fly into interesting fields. This make me want to get out again and have
some fun. For those of you that want to visit Alaska to fish, these were
sent to me by my friend Jay. Evidently they did these shots as a
promotion.
But, it does give you a good idea of what to expect when you fly into some
of the best fishing in the world.
Just a bit of routine every day very short and rough field work, including
some water assited landings.
