Tony: No, I didn't realize he had passed.. I was hoping to get more of his
videos.. I enjoyed them, cause he took his time showing you every step of
the way, and I learned sooo much from the two vids I have.. I'd love to see
that pic... That is sad about his house as well...Well, he left a legacy
that I think helped a LOT of tiers, like Myself, cause his videos gave me
the confidence that I COULD do it.. Chuck

Chuck,
I had the pleasure of knowing Poul and tying with him.
I have a couple of his salmon flies. I guess you know
Poul has passed on. I was past his house three weeks
ago today when I was up in Livingston Manor N.Y. for
the Bamboo Rod Gathering. His house had a lot of
damage from the floods this past spring.
At the museum in the Catskill Flyfishing Center, his
tying desk is set up just as he left it. I was
fortunate to get a small bag if his tying materials
with a certified note that the material came from his
supply.
I can send you a photo of Poul and I if you want it.
Poul was going to do a book on Realistic flies he
never got to it.I have tied several copies of his
Realistic Mayfly for my kids and a couple of friends.
If you get out here for the Sowbug next March, will be
glad to show you one.I have copies of all his books,
they are signed and inscribed. Some day I will pass
them on to someone else.
Tony

Lance: I have a cpl Videos with Poul Jorgenson and I
love his work also.. He
is so quiet, and laid back in the videos, takes his
time and and makes it
look soooo simple...(and he uses More saliva in
tying than anybody I've ever
seen, but it DOES work LOL) and he takes the time
on the ones I have to
stop and give tips that even a green newbie can
learn from... That in of
itself makes Him a "Master Tier" IMHO, cause the
willingness to teach others
goes a LONG ways in my book...I haven't seen any of
Roman Sharabun's work
but willlook it up.. I tell ya, at least for Me,
that question is turning
out to be a pretty good one, cause I am searching
(and finding) a lot of the
tiers mentioned in the answers here, and they have
given me a LOT of new
ideas, and with cold weather coming, a new
inspiration to be a better tier
with each passing week, month and year...Thanks for
the links, Chuck
