While in Utah, I attended the Utah State Fair.  As we walked around there was a booth where a man had something (I am at work on Lunch) called magic tape I think.  I listened to his pitch and felt here was a solution to one of my problems.  If I use a loop to loop connection on the leader to the line sometimes the connection will hang.  This happens at the worst times such as reeling in a big fish and having that last run happen just as you are about to land it.  The tippet snaps and you lose the fish.  Or at least I did.  So this tape is stretchable.  Stretch is out and when applied it shrinks.  It is waterproof and to take it off you roll it up - cut it off.  I have applied it to my line.  Unfortunately, it will have to wait until Christmas when we head back to Utah to try it out.  The stuff is fairly expensive but I figure it is worth a shot.  If anyone has this problem and wants to be a test flyfisher send me a SASE and I will cut you a piece.  You will need to keep your line taut as you apply the tape and stretch the tape which seems to activate the little guys that shrink the tape (you can see that I am very aware of the chemical process here).  It holds some interesting possibilities if it works.  Any test pilots?
