OK, I take it that the "winter" flies would be used in overcast light most of the time? Jimi
Jimi, One of the reasons for more of the brighter ones being labeled as summer run instead of winter is the old theory (which I highly believe in) "bright days, bright colors, dark days, dark colors". When the light is low or the water is murky the darker color makes a better silhouette where as on a bright day the bright colors pick up the natural light better. When I fished with gear we used corkies most of the time, one of my favorite colors was Black, hooked a lot of fish on a black corkie with a bit of yarn (chartreuses, red or a combination of the two) dangling below it.
