Larry: This is sad but true.. I fish at the local Public Park Lake a lot and see kids there fishing, but NO Daddy (or Mom) with them at all. My daddy was never a well to do man, but he didn't have to be,. He passed away in 2002 and the best times I ever remember with him is when we went fishing together. When kids are grown, things like time (not money) spent with them doing things like fishing is what will stick with them... Jimmy: They play war sitting in front of the TV with a game box. They
don't have a Dad to take them fishing.

Remembering back to the summer of 1946 during the polio epidemic,
myself
an all the kids in our town where I grew up were restricted to our own

yards for fear that we'd contract the polio virus. Believe me, that
was
a long, hot and miserable summer, since it ruined our daily game of
ARMY. My pals and I were going to build a fort as our command center !

I also remember the foggers coming around every day that summer,
spraying DDT to kill the mosquitos. DDT may have been bad, but it is
credited by the World Health Organization with saving 90 million lives

during the period it was used.

P.S. Wonder how many kids play army these days!

Yes indeed - where did it come from? And I believe that to cause such
a
noticeable rise in the fish, it must have been pretty heavy use.
Someone, as
Jimmy says, is definitely in deep kimshee.

Fishing is not a matter of life or death.
It's much more important than that!
