I've held off making any announcements here until it was ready for prime
time... and well it finally is!
My buddy Kevin Umbach of St. Albert, Alberta Canada has created a new
fly tying software
sharing package (a la P2P Napster Like) for doing Virtual Fly Swaps
on-line with fellow on-line
tyers and fishers. Did I mention it was also FREE?

He is currently looking to expand the testing of his software to
incorporate more users. A
few folks from FlyAngler.Ca and NLFTF have been piloting the first few
releases and
must say we're pretty impressed that this will catch on. I am currently
sharing
over 344 patterns on-line via the software myself right now. If you are
interested
in participating, please email Kevin for a username and password to the
share server.
I do hope you take the time to check out this java application. I'll
likely be abandoning
my own software 'CyberFly' to help Kevin with future suggestions on his
software. You
can check out my own past endeavor here. I will be working out a way for
users to
convert the HIP file format to FLY format over the coming months.

I know where Kevin plans to take this software ultimately, and it has a
good future
ahead of it. Over at Flyangler.ca message forum, we already have
expanded the
board to allow users to post the <XML> .Fly files as attachments to
messages.
You can also email yer buddys the fly files directly, and generate PDF
pattern
printouts of fly... with lots more features planned in the future. Kevin
is also very
open to feedback and suggestions on enhancements as well.
