If you've got the day and don't mind driving a little bit. Hop
on the Garden State Parkway and head south to Cape May. It's got a bunch
of shops, some decent restaurants, a lot of old Victorian Houses to look
at. There's a wild life refuge noted for it's bird watching and the light
house at Cape May Point. It's probably a two and half hour ride, and of
course there's the tolls, but it's a much nicer ride than the turnpike.
And if you feel lucky you could always stop in Atlantic City. I'm not sure
how far in advance you need reservations for but there are some good restaurants
there.
