" After high school, I chose Central Michigan University, partly because of nearby trout streams, partly because of duck marshes and grouse cover. I remember one fall when I rented a shack seven miles from town. The shack was on a dirt road and in ideal hunting and fishing country. When I got tired of studying, which was often, I just picked up the appropriate gear and walked out the door to trout, ruffed grouse, wildfowl, deer, pheasand, and cottontails. Owing to these, I stayed around long enough to graduate."
