I would use anything for the wash. The bubblier the better. You could use a wool rinse. It is a fantastic material. You'll like it.

Jimi put a clump in a bucket of warm water and soap. swoosh it around and break up the clup. most of the wood and scum should float. Wash it again in water and dry out. Wallah Reuven Segal
