I few of my students (only in the sense that I was the teacher for this specific skill) in my class have bought this vise.
http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/fly-tying-vises/042030400009.aspx Not bad for a $35 dollar vise. Made in China. It will definitely get your appetite wet for a Renzetti, Dynaking, or a Danvise when you want to upgrade. It was interesting to view the quality of the vise. Two students had bought it in my last fall class. Between the two vices, I noticed tolerance differences. But all in all - you need to expect you are not getting a Renzetti for $40!! Both students are tying on these vices and would buy it again. The ability to view the fly and rotate it after each tie in step is very helpful in obtaining a finished fly they are proud of.... My 2 cents... BTW - It's the lactic acid that makes the trout taste better. You can't buy that seasoning in any store...hehehe. Thanks, Chris
