Funny that this topic should come up. I spent quite some time stripping old
flies Sunday afternoon. Some bad ties, some torn up from use and some
experimental ties that never produced.
I use both single edge razor blades and double edge blades (old Marlin blue
blades). Makes fast time of salvaging and reusing hooks. I guess it is my
Scottish heritage that cause me to not be wasteful - thrifty - the hook is
the most expensive part of the fly and worth the effort.

Subject: [VFB] Stripping old hooks?
I have been trying to strip some old flies, (read bad ties or just beat
up), off of the hooks so I can use them again. It is a sordid task at
best.
Does anyone have any tips on how to do it an easy way without so much
frustration? Other than dumping them in an ash tray and setting them on
fire????
