I don't go through all that trouble, i just sit down at the grinding wheel and shape it out.between the grinder and the file i get the edge then i buff it.it a small knife but it work good thank for the info. later dave

But a word of caution. You need a "lot" of heat in the forge, a big anvil a bigger hammer and a lot of work. They do make nice long filet knives though, (to keep it fishing related).
