I initially learned it that way, but found that when it comes to those little
midge patterns for tailwater trout, I needed to use 6x. For most of my pond and
lake fishing, I just use a straight 8# leader .

Subject: Re: [VFB] Tippit Question

I was always taught the rule of 4 - divide the hook size by 4 and that's the
largest you should use....so a #24 would be 6, #18 would be 4, etc.

that will usually fit into the eye of a fly hook? I know this sounds a bit
strange, or even stupid, but I am going to be getting some new tippet and
want to make sure that I get the strongest I can to fit into a #18, or #20,

or even down to a #24.

Any tips or suggestions?
Thanks,
Jimi
