-----Original Message----- From:] On Behalf Of Chuck Alexander Subject: Re: [VFB] Casting heavy flies
Deb: I finally got to that site.. Thanks.. I finally saw a cpl guys who fish where I do (and I have been skunked the last FOUR trips LOL).. Anyway, they caught several nice bass, and they said the fish were in 15-20 ft of water now, so one of the sinking heads would be perfect I think... Thanks again.. Now if I can just take all the tips and learn to cast those heavy flies.. But, like you say.. Our winds have gusted up to 30mph.. ---- Chuck, 30 mph would surely find me comfortable on a couch, not outside fishing. However, with a shooting head and a short tight loop you will be amazed at how well and how far you can cast under very windy conditions. For that depth, I would use a T-8 head. If you are using a 6 wt rod you would want about 15-18 ft of head. Rio makes this product http://www.rioproducts.com/product.php?fmCategory=13 jg
