Subject: Re: [VFB] Casting heavy flies

Deb: I finally got to that site.. Thanks.. I finally saw a cpl guys who fish

where I do (and I have been skunked the last FOUR trips LOL).. Anyway, they
caught several nice bass, and they said the fish were in 15-20 ft of water
now, so one of the sinking heads would be perfect I think... Thanks again..
Now if I can just take all the tips and learn to cast those heavy flies..
But, like you say.. Our winds have gusted up to 30mph..

Chuck,

30 mph would surely find me comfortable on a couch, not outside fishing.
However, with a shooting head and a short tight loop you will be amazed at
how well and how far you can cast under very windy conditions.

For that depth, I would use a T-8 head. If you are using a 6 wt rod you
would want
about 15-18 ft of head. Rio makes this product
