I can understand this because I believe that there can be a difference (small) in fish holding quality between a standard streamer hook that has been de-barbed and one that is designed as barbless in the first place. For example, some purpose made barbless hooks have a longer incurved and sometimes offset point than many standard hooks. Partridge makes (or used to make) Roman Moser barbless streamer, nymph & dry fly hooks. Gamakatsu has some unique retainer bend barbless hooks (R10-B) Knapek (Czech) also makes some unique incurved long point streamer hooks which I am presently experimenting with.
