Now the question. I don't have any Hares Mask to make a real Hare Ear.
Anyone know of a suitable substitute, or color that will work?

I have used "sliced n' diced" (shredded?) New Zealand Rabbit underbelly and
underfur (from the back) to great success -- it helps having a "mutant" (not
really, but when you see his size you may think otherwise) 12lb 8oz pet New
Zealand... Not just for you, Jimi, but if anyone wants a "wad" of shed fur
(losing summer coat, gaining winter coat), roughly a half-sandwich-baggie
amount (fits a #10 business envelope very nicely), just send your address
off-list and I'll be more than happy to hook you up with some shed fur.
Mostly an off- grey underfur with mottled rusty- browns and fiery-orange
guard- hairs mixed in there. Free, just need the address. I try to use
heavy-duty scissors and cut the guard-hairs into a third the length, or else
pluck them out of the underfur. Works well for me, and the fish don't seem
to mind much. I've tried cutting fur from zonker strips, and perhaps I'm
just 'challenged', but it isn't the same for me - the guard hairs seem too
thick to me... yet the stuff that our rabbit sheds seems much thinner in
diameter.
Just my 2 cents worth. The free fur offer still stands for anyone who
wishes to try it - I think I offered it before on this list, but repeats are
welcome.
Tight wraps,
Pete
