Tom: Thanks.. I'll do just that, IF he can get the hide back from the butcher.
Be my luck the butcher is a fly tier and is tanning it for himself..LOL... Chuck

If you just want to use it for fly tying cut off a good sized chunk, wash it
in shampoo, stretch it, scrape it and salt it. The best Elk I have ever tied
with was given to me by Larry Johnson, it was on raw, salt cured hide and still
had enough natural oils to both tie easier and float better.

Tanning takes a lot out of hair.

Folks: My Son In Law came by yesterday to drop off my Grand Daughter to

what I killed yesterday"...I asked him did he butcher it, but he took it to a
local butcher house here that does most deer kills in this area.. I said "where
is the hide???" "At the Butchers".... I said "What???, you better call that
butcher and tell him NOT to throw it away or anything like that cause you KNEW
I could use those hides in fly tying" "Oh yeah, I forgot about that" He said
LOL..... Well, hopefully he can get it back.. I hope so...Chuck
