Also, (I forgot to mention an important reason I still use them) when
the line lands on the water, there is hardly a dimple.  Some
line-to-leader knots make a lot of disturbance on the water when they
are cast.

That brings back old memories.  I didn't know they still made those.
My first store-bought flyline was attached to the leader (plain mono)
with
one of those.
Had to be the early sixties.
