Following on from Jimmy's self appointment as List Moderator and Conscience. I thought I share a something for you to think about before you post to the list:
Every posting is costing Byard money, as he provides this service effectively free (I know many of us pay our VFB memebership des, but it is voluntary).
Every posting gets emailed to everone on the list.
I pretty much delete 98% of what i get on the list based on the Subject. This is kind of a low yield. If I received half as many emails that were twice as relevant I would still delete 90% of them...
Alot of the traffic could easily be sent off list directly to the people involved:
Tips:
Swaps.. Once it starts, keep the traffic off list.. set up a mail group
Dont send "me too" replies.
Seasonal Greetings... probably best sent directly to your email contacts
as for DR Demento, Buggs, and Jester well let me tell you they are jsut the thing to kepp me from getting really fgrumpy .. so its ok for them to chime in..
