yep... it's a great merit badge to teach... I usually start off the first session finding out what all the kids know already. You'd be surprised how many know nothing of fly fishing when they take the merit badge. Then go from there... basic casting, parts of rod and fly, fly tying tools, etc.

Correct, my best friend and fellow fly fisher and Scout Executive with the BSA, was instrumental in getting BSA National to see the "light". He also helped write the FFMB book. It incorportes all aspects of fly fishing and fly tying. When a Scout completes the requirements for the badge, he is well grounded in the fundamentals of fly fishing / tying.
