Jimmy: We just had one of my Grand Daughter's 2nd birthday party today
(Saturday)...and it was great...When I was a kid, we had family reunions EVERY
year... Then, as old folks started dying off, and young folks had to leave town
or state to go to school, or find work, they became every three years.. then
every five. Now, we had one about three years ago, and that was the first real
reunion in years.. So, what I am saying is that you better go with your family
and enjoy the heck outta that week.. I consider ppl here "family"... and I hope
and pray I can come to Sowbug, but if I had the chance you have, I'd never give
it a second though... I mean, your friends are your friends, but, your blood is
your blood. Then, your kids, like Mine, are probably scattered all over the
country, and like you say you don't get to see them like you would want too..
Plus, the grandkids.. Getting to see all them at once.. Some ppl these days in
our "living all over the Country" lifestyles, some ppl never get to see all
their grandkids at the same time and that is sad.. So, enjoy.. and send pics. I
was hoping to meet you at Sowbug If I do get to go.. But what you are doing is
MORE important in my book any day...See ya at Sowbug in '08, as you said "Good
Lord willing"... Chuck

Subject: [VFB] Sow Bug Regrets - JIMMY D

  Dean & Tony,

A few weeks ago I emailed you both saying I would attend this year's Sow Bug,
but held back on sending the "hard copy" reservation sheet. Jody and I had been
trying to coordinate a week in New Mexico for the entire family. Everything
fell into place earlier this week - spring break for the grandkids and condo
availability. So, regretfully, I must cancel my 2007 Sow Bug trip, but I'll be
there in 08 Lord willing.

I hate to bail out on you, but family opportunities like this very seldom
come along. Also, I'll celebrate my 70th birthday on Thursday, March 15. That
in itself would present no problem, for Thursday was to be my travel day to
Mtn. Home. However, Spring Break for all my grandkids in school is March
12-19. This is the first time I can remember when all the grandkids ISD's had
spring break the same week.

SO . . . . Jody & I rented a BIG condo in Red River, NM for the entire
week. Jody and our five grown kids and eight grandkids, have have a big
birthday party planned for me out there. Our condo is right on the banks of
the Red River and fishing ponds for the little guys are adjacent to it. So, my
three sons and two son-in-laws and I will fly fish the Red and take the little
guys pond fishing. The girls, Jody, my two daughters and three daughter-in-laws
will hit the shops in Red River, Eagle Nest and Taos.

  Cheers!

  JIMMY D
