Remember, stretching should be done after warm up exercising.

Jimmy: This is a great tip... My wife joined a health club a while back
and they have them do those stretching exercises before they are allowed on
any of the weight machines, treadmills, anything.... It does help, cause
while back when I found out I had high cholesterol and I started a walking
program, and I did NOT warm up, and I pulled the muscle on the side of my
knee, and It hurt BAD for a month.. I could not even do my walking for a
month, which defeated the purpose,. Hope your wife gets fully well real
soon, Chuck

Just a little tidbit to pass along. Saturday a week ago, Jody was doing
the simple task of putting on her slacks. Had one leg in, and was putting
the other in when something popped behind the knee of her leg that was
supporting her. She went to the floor, hollering for me to come!. I was at
the back of the house and by the time I got to her she couldn't even get up.
Called our orthopedic doc at home and he said it sounded like a hamstring
or the tiny muscle directly behind her knee cap. Said to bring her to his
office first thing Monday. (It's nice to have a doc who'll give you his
home number.) Took her in Monday. It was pulled muscles, hamstring and
the other little muscle, but no torn ligaments, thank God. She went through
that in 94 when we went on our first and last ski trip to Col. That same
doc met us at home the night we arrived back in Woodway, checked her out,
called the hospital and operated on her next morning. What a great doc!
Wound up getting a wheelchair Sat afternoon, the company brought it to our
house, then on Tuesday I got her a walker. Two days on it and then she was
able to walk using a single crutch. Just about well now and has a follow up
appointment with our doc tomorrow.

After examining Jody last week, he made a statement that I've since taken
to heart. "As we get older, it is much easier to pull a muscle. This can
be remedied by simple 'stretching' excercises when we first get up in the
morning." Doesn't take long and can save wear and tear on our muscles."
I've noticed my neighbor next door does that at the mailbox every morning
before she goes walking. She's in her 50's. My youngest daughter does this
before running each day.

*I pass this along because it can definitely benefit us WADE FISHERMEN.*
Think about it, runners stretch before a race, professional golfers stretch
before a round. weight lifters stretch. Even drummers in bands stretch
before playing the drums. The list goes on and on. A word of caution. *Take
it easy when stretching. Do it slowly, for you sure don't want to pull
muscles while trying to prevent muscle pulls.* :-P GO TO GOOGLE AND TYPE
IN "Stretching Exercises."

Cheers,

JIMMY D
