I guess I presented this dilemma and a much too serious manner. It was actually an opportunity for a good laugh between us. As soon as I found the beater I knew it was going to be giftwrapped and placed in the bottom of a bag containing several other gifts. We went to our favorite Indian restaurant last night, and at the conclusion of the meal, the owner brought over a delicious mango ice cream and a bag that I had given him containing 4 or 5 items including the beater for dessert. Diane's delight, and hearty laugh, should set the stage for another 36 years. Thanks to everyone who responded. Lots of good advice. JG
